About Us

The Parks & Recreation Department's mission is to provide superior recreation, leisure, and community services to enrich the quality of life and promote public well being for residents and visitors alike.

Soldotna's beauty is shared through our many parks. Our parks and recreation programs are the centerpiece of the Kenai Peninsula. With two river access parks, two campgrounds with river access and seven neighborhood parks, we have more parks within the City's boundary than anywhere else in Alaska. For more information on our city parks, including instructions/locations for camping and river access, please visit the Facilities Page.

Our department focuses heavily on creating and supporting programming. We invite you to come out and engage with your community through the learn to skate and other activities at the Regional Sports Complex, or one of the many festivals and events, many of which we help coordinate.
